Supported types: image/jpeg, image/png, image/webp, image/bmp, image/tiff (Max: 20 MB)

How Browser-Based OCR Works

Traditional OCR tools upload your images to cloud servers for processing. FileKinetix uses WebAssembly to run Tesseract, an advanced open-source OCR engine, directly inside your browser. This means the image never leaves your device, providing unmatched privacy and security for your sensitive documents.

Supported Languages

Our OCR engine supports multiple languages out of the box, including English, Thai, Japanese, Korean, Simplified Chinese, Traditional Chinese, French, German, and Spanish. You can even select multiple languages simultaneously for multi-lingual documents.

Common Use Cases

Extracting text from images is incredibly useful. Digitize printed documents or business cards, pull text from screenshots, translate signs from photos, or grab unselectable text from scanned PDFs. The extracted text can be copied to your clipboard or downloaded as a text file for further editing.

How to use OCR - Image to Text

  1. Upload your image (JPEG, PNG, WEBP, BMP, or TIFF) using the dropzone.
  2. Preview the image to ensure it's the correct file.
  3. Select the language(s) present in the image. Selecting the correct language improves accuracy significantly.
  4. Click 'Extract Text' and wait for the AI to process the image right in your browser.
  5. Review the extracted text. You can copy it to your clipboard or download it as a .txt file.

Frequently Asked Questions

Is my image uploaded to a server?

No. The entire OCR process happens locally in your web browser. Your images and extracted text never leave your device.

Which image formats are supported?

You can upload JPEG, PNG, WEBP, BMP, and TIFF images.

How can I improve text extraction accuracy?

For best results, ensure the image is clear, well-lit, and the text is not too small. Selecting the correct language also dramatically improves the engine's accuracy.

Can it recognize handwritten text?

The current engine is optimized for printed text. While it may recognize very neat handwriting, the accuracy will be significantly lower than with printed fonts.

Is there a file size limit?

Yes, the maximum file size for images is 20MB to ensure smooth performance in your browser.
